Hospitalized patients increasingly testing positive.
The data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows patients being admitted to the hospital are increasingly testing positive for COVID-19 in the U.S. The BA.5 subvariant of Omicron circulating in the US. is about 78 percent lower than the January peak, and deaths remain relatively low. But hospitalizations are on the rise, up 11 percent over a seven-day period.
It is unclear how many cases are individuals being admitted for COVID or those hospitalized for other conditions who happen to have COVID. Testing is showing more COVID cases are being detected, including through home testing, and experts have increasingly pointed to hospitalizations as an important metric in understanding what is happening at local levels.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for officials in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as they monitor coronavirus data.
- For Director Walensky to look to the Lord for guidance as she heads the CDC.
- For Secretary Becerra to have discernment in overseeing the federal health department.
